Gear Couplings

Gear Couplings are high-performance mechanical devices designed to connect the shafts of two separate machines while transmitting high levels of torque. These couplings are capable of accommodating small degrees of angular and axial misalignment, making them ideal for demanding industrial applications.

Known for their superior torque capacity relative to size, Gear Couplings outperform many other coupling types in the same physical footprint. Their ability to handle high torque with low rotational inertia makes them particularly well-suited for high-speed machinery and applications that require precision and power, such as compressors, pumps, and heavy-duty drive systems.

The coupling consists of two hubs with external gear teeth and a connecting sleeve – typically in two pieces – with matching internal teeth. One half of the coupling is flexible while the other is rigid, allowing it to maintain alignment in “floating shaft” configurations. This torsionally rigid design ensures efficient power transmission while providing enough flexibility to handle angular misalignment.

Proper lubrication is critical to the long-term performance of Gear Couplings. Regular and adequate application of the recommended lubricant reduces wear, minimises backlash, and ensures smooth, noise-free operation over time.

Gear Couplings are engineered for strength, reliability, and long service life – making them a trusted solution in industries where precision and durability are non-negotiable.
